So sad these engines are going away

I really hope there is a longer youtube version.

What are they using next season? I don't follow F1 closely. Mainly because most races are in the middle of the night for me here in the US.

Turbo Inline-4

Turbo V6, actually. 1.6L with double the ERS output.

Hopefully you were being sarcastic, the engines are going to be turbocharged V6s. Personally I'm intrigued by the hybrid turbos they will be using.

You know, I'm not thrilled about the hybrid stuff being mandated...if I wanna see hybrid racing, I'll watch the Prius Cup. Oh wait, there's not one (hopefully...). Give the teams a displacement and weight limit and let 'em go.

No worries, I have a feeling you were just an engine generation early...

I wouldn't doubt it in this age.

I agree, but with some mixed feelings... While the big displacement days may have been fun, they're a bit obsolete. They were when 1hp/ci was really something to shoot for, anymore sports cars are considered pretty gutless if they aren't at least pushing 100hp/ liter. That's in bone-stock production cars.

Turbo V6. I know it's good for the world cause tech will filter down. But those N/A V8s were awesome

The hybrid aspect is what makes the new engines interesting. If they were just turbo charged it wouldn't be that exciting. But I saw the Jalopnik post on the new tech and it does seem to be beneficial because it could lead to more efficient production performance cars.
